Best in Show: Celebrating Brooke’s Incredible Win at The Big Day Out For Dogs🏆✨

We are bursting with pride as we share some truly wonderful news from the dog-grooming world.

Our very own Brooke has taken out Best in Show at The Big Day Out For Dogs Grooming Competition, winning the highest award of the entire event. And here’s the part that still gives us goosebumps… this was Brooke’s very first grooming competition.

From First Timer to Best in Show

Despite being a newbie to competitions, Brooke competed in the Open Class Asian Fusion category as she had been a dog groomer for over 3 years (<3 years being "Novice".) She was in a powerhouse duo with the beautiful Goldie, a white standard poodle who is one of our gorgeous clients. With 55 contestants on the day, the competition was fierce and the standard was incredibly high.

Brooke’s journey through the competition was nothing short of extraordinary:

  • 🥇 Winner - Open Class Asian Fusion

  • 🥇 Best in Group - Asian Fusion

  • 🏆 Best in Show – the overall best groom of the entire day

When I say we couldn’t be prouder… I truly mean it. I cried so much my eyeballs turned into sultanas and I gave myself a rash 😂😭

A Journey Built on Passion, Practice and Saying “Yes”

What makes this win even more special is the journey behind it.

Just 18 months ago, Brooke hadn’t done any creative grooming at all. Since then, she has poured her heart into learning, practising and growing. She has trained closely with Annie here at Uncanny Animals, attended seminars, absorbed feedback, and shown up again and again as an enthusiastic, consistent “yes” person.

Talent matters, but effort matters more. And Brooke has given both in spades.

While we are absolutely thrilled to see Brooke’s grooming abilities recognised on such a big stage, what make Brooke the most incredible groomer is how she grooms.

Brooke works with immense kindness, patience and respect for every animal in her care. Her technical skill is matched by her gentle handling and deep empathy, which is exactly what we stand for at Uncanny Animals.

She is an incredible role model to our team, a phenomenal groomer to every animal she touches, and watching her succeed brings us so much joy.
