PET COSMETICS
"Pet Cosmetics" is the term we use when referring to products like Shampoos, Conditioners, Sprays, Ear Cleaners, Facials, Colognes, Dyes etc. The products used make your pet look, feel and smell fabulous.
From start to finish, we only use the highest quality, premium pet cosmetics on our animals. Many of our pet cosmetics are the same used on show animals and the boujee pets of Hollywood!
While quality is important, so is your pet's safety, the environment and our morals.

Vegan - All of our products storewide are vegan. Your pet might consume meat, but we believe quality pet grooming does not need to come at the expense of other animals.
Cruelty-Free & No Animal Testing - It might seem weird that products used on animals aren't tested on animals, but it's true! The brands we use are completely cruelty-free as they use the knowledge of pharmacological, toxicological and medical experts, as well as non-animal alternative test methods and safety histories of formulations and ingredients to determine product safety.
Organic Where Possible- It is very hard to find 100% organic products that are also effective. However, most of our products contain high amounts of organic ingredients including aloe vera and essential oils.
Transparent Ingredients Lists - Did you know that in Australia it is not a legal requirement for pet cosmetic companies to list ingredients use in their products? Unfortunately that means many pet shampoo companies refuse to be transparent for fear of having their recipes copied. However, allergies can happen to even the most safe ingredients, and it is important to us that we have full transparency to keep our clients safe; Uncanny Animals does not work with any brands that hide ingredients lists.
Biodegradable - When all the shampoo goes down the drain or the washed hair goes into the garden you can be rest assured it is safe for grey waste, and capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms and thereby avoiding pollution.
pH Balanced - Feline skin is slightly more alkaline than human skin, while canine skin is much more alkaline than human skin - one reason you should never use human designed products on animals. All our products are scientifically designed for the pH of animals.
Non-Toxic - Unfortunately the term non-toxic is shockingly unregulated. Nevertheless, products we use have undergone rigorous testing to confirm that they do not produce personal injury or illness to animals when inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through the skin.
Hypoallergenic, Nut-Free, Wheat-Free, Gluten-Free Options - All our products are pretty hypoallergenic, but we like to have many options. See, allergies are a somewhat common occurance in animals and can happen to even the simplest ingredients, and sometimes their humans can have allergies to what is used on their coats too! Thats why we have many hypoallergenic product options.

TABLES
All tables in our facility are electric lift grooming tables. Unlike static, fold-out or hydrollic tables, these tables avoid jolting and give a calm, smooth transition between heights.
This means a safer environment for animals with injuries, those of old age, those with anxiety, and all pets generally benefit from a calmer experience.
HYDRO- BATHING
Our salon is fitted with the wonderful Hydrobath System. This not only washes thicker coats more thoroughly getting right down to the base of the hair to cleanse the skin, but is a water saver to help minimise our environmental footprint.
TOWELS
Though we appreciate that reusing towels helps save water, it puts animals at risk for cross contaminating each other with contagious diseases and parasites (which we hope they don't have, but sometimes these things are spotted at the late stage of the groom.)
We have a one towel to one client policy. This helps us uphold our strict hygiene policies. We also use white towels only to make sure we can see the towels are properly clean.
To make up for the extra washing we have upgraded our washing facilities to the highest environmental efficiencies and use enviornmentally friendly laundry detergents.
Cat Dryer
We attempt to hand dry all cats with normal velocity dryers, but for most cats this can be a stressful experience and we do not want cats going home wet and miserable!
That is why our salon has invested in the very best drying technology for a more relaxed experience.
Our cat dryer is:
- 90% quieter than conventional blowers
- has infrared treatment
- uses cat-safe aromatic therapy
- Is perfectly temperature controlled (to the degree celsius.) Unlike cage dryers which are very unsafe, our cat dryers have powerful ventilation fans and an anti-overheating system.
- has negative ion air purification, dispensing highly-concentrated negative ions to make the coat smoother, more moisturized and easier to comb and brush. Negative ions can also purify the air in the cabinet.
- Provides a much more fear-free experience.
Please note that the cat-dryer does take longer (approximately 45mins) than normal drying (10minutes)
Hair Bands
All plain hair bands used at Uncanny Animals are fully biodegradble latex and will decompose within 6months. We encorage people to cut them out of the hair after use (to avoid pulling any hair and upsetting your pet) and disposing of them thoughtfully.
