Sustainable Salons Results 20/21
Our 2020/2021 Sustainable Salon results are in and they are incredible!
- 14kg of Hair collected to soak up 46L of oil spilt in oceans
- 91kg of Paper recycled
- 46kg of Plastics kept in circulation
- 66kg of Metals recycled
- And 169,000+ Meals provided through the OzHarvest program
Considering we have spent more than half the year in lockdown, we are extremely proud of these numbers.
Unfortunately the animal grooming industry can produce a lot of waste, mostly because it is imperative strict hygiene standards are upheld. Animals also produce so much more hair than humans, which usually ends up thrown away rather than finding positive use.
Nevertheless, all of us at Uncanny Animals are all in this industry because we care deeply for animals, that includes the future of all animals, not just those in our grooming salon. So despite our staff being busy caring for pets during the work day, we all put the extra effort in to make sure we have minimal waste.
Of course we also use the local recycling bins on occasions too, but we know these aren't as reliable nor guarantee recyclables don't end up in landfill. That's why we adore being part of the Sustainable Salons family.
